love quiz…

29 Nov

Love is an amazing thing.  Love from family, love from your spouse, love from your kids, love from your friends, but especially love from Jesus.  We know we are supposed to love the Lord, and love each other.  But love is sometimes done through our own perspectives of how to love.  We experienced different “love” growing up, so how can we all love the same.  The way I try to love my husband is different than the way he tries to love me.  So how do we know what love is or how to express it?  Well, I am no pro, but this passage does help…as my husband and I read it, he said one time he heard a sermon where the pastor spoke on this passage and said to substitute your name for the word love and see if you felt the statements where right?

For example here is the true passage of 1 Corinthians 13:4-7:

4 Love is patient,

 love is kind.

It does not envy,

it does not boast,

it is not proud. 5

It does not dishonor others,

it is not self-seeking,

it is not easily angered,

it keeps no record of wrongs. 6

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Now here is the passage with my name in it…

4 Christine is patient, (not as much as I should be)

Christine is kind. (not always)

Christine does not envy, (sometimes I struggle)

Christine does not boast, (if I say I don’t boast, wouldn’t I be boasting about that)

Christine is not proud. (I think every person on the planet struggles with pride in one way or another)

5Christine does not dishonor others, (my husband counts as others, right?)

Christine is not self-seeking, (grown up versions of tantrums say otherwise)

Christine is not easily angered, (umm, sadly, my kids would say more often than not)

Christine keeps no record of wrongs. (mental tallies get the best of me)

6 Christine does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. (of course, but some of those movies and music can be questionable right?)

7 Christine always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (but yes I sometimes lose sight of hope and want to give up)

Can just say that when I did this, it was totally an eye opener…I would have never thought that I was not loving or expressed love the right way, but when I did this, umm yeah I totally lacked in all these areas…anyway, this was a way to check myself….try it, hope it helps you the way it has helped me!

so how did you do?  are there any that you struggle with?
